Teaching the Moy Yat Ving Tsun System

Welcome to Montgomery County Kung Fu, home of the Maryland branch of the Moy Tung Kung Fu clan, providing high quality martial arts training in the Gaithersburg, Maryland area.  Classes focus on training the Ving Tsun (wing chun) system of self defense as taught by Moy Yat through the Yip Man lineage.

Ving Tsun Kung Fu is a highly effective martial art that has been taught and practiced since the 17th century.  Originally developed in southern China, Ving Tsun is a traditional martial art, yet its unique training methods make it ideal for the modern world.

By beginning your journey in Ving Tsun training, you have made a decision to improve your stamina, coordination, flexibility, agility and overall level of fitness. Ving Tsun trains us to use the body’s natural structure to achieve maximum efficiency in physical movement and does not rely on physical strength, making it an ideal martial art for people of any age or size.

Training Ving Tsun is a fulfilling and challenging experience that allows students to study at their own pace. The art of Ving Tsun allows the practitioner to rapidly develop self-defense skills, yet has enough depth for a lifetime of study.

At Montgomery County Kung Fu, Ving Tsun is taught in a relaxed and generally informal setting. In a typical class, students warm up on their own by playing forms and then pairing off with others to play two-person drills. Some classes also include group conditioning exercises or self defense applications. Senior students and beginners train together in the same classes. Students typically work out several times per week in class and on their own.
